ABOUT ME

My name is Jessica, I'm a licensed psychotherapist in New York and California. I am a certified EMDR clinician and specialize in working with ambitious clients who struggle with high-functioning anxiety. The intention of my practice is to take a deeper dive into root causes of stress so you can feel more secure and clear in your present day life. My style is relaxed and comfortable. I am not overly clinical and tend to practice from a humanistic lens. I believe our lives deserve serious consideration, but also feel there’s room for levity and humor in therapy. I enjoy getting to know someone in a deep and dynamic way, and approach each person I work with with genuine curiosity and interest.

Most of my clients are feeling stuck in patterns that are no longer working for them. They notice stress as an obstacle and have always worked hard to push through. Learning to work, lead, and/or relate differently often require an unexpected approach. My practice focuses on a trauma-based, integrative model that brings the body and spirit into psychotherapy, and works to help you truly understand, admire and value your unique Self. While I honor and revere this process, I can appreciate that life is full and time is limited. In 8 years of private practice, I have learned that effective therapy doesn't need to take long. Most see great results in 6 months of intensive (weekly) therapy.

ABOUT YOU

I enjoy working with clients who are motivated to work together to meet goals that they have been struggling to meet on their own. I’m a very engaged and committed therapist and I aim to work with folks that are equally dedicated to their treatment. For most people, their progress in therapy is a direct reflection of this combined commitment. While supportive counseling or listening is a helpful part of therapy, I don’t work well with “venting” sessions. My style is active and engaged in exploration and change, and I work best with clients who share this approach.

STRUCTURE OF THERAPY

Sessions are held weekly and are scheduled each month in advance, with a specific time slot reserved for each client. Scheduling 2/wk therapy is an option depending on severity of symptoms and specific goals you might have. As symptoms lessen and self awareness and insight grow, we taper down sessions until you feel comfortable and ready to move on. I’m always happy to hold “tune-up” sessions for previous clients as needed.

family sessions (optional)

I work with clients on an individual basis. However, I work closely with relational trauma and the ongoing impact this has on our current relationships. Because of this, it may be helpful to invite others into a session or two to aid in improving interpersonal skills and relationship stability.
